Dr. Martens will be releasing their first ever bag line, which for this season consists of UK-made leather satchels and canvas parachute bags. They’re limited to 350 pieces worldwide per colour and are available in black, cherry red, navy, green and white. The parachute bags are made in Somerset and are crafted from rot-proof and water-resistant canvas as well as fittings that were originally used for parachute harnesses. They’re lmited to 300 pieces worldwide per colour and are available in black, khaki and navy.
This Spring/Summer 2011, Dr. Martens is set to present the DRIFT footwear collection. Spring is all about comfort, function and simplicity and the DRIFT collection focuses on casual and lightweight designs as alternative to Dr. Martens highly revered classic styles. The signature Dr. Martens air-cushioned soles and hardwearing leather that have been embraced by everyone from workers to musicians all over the world have been reworked this season with light-yet-durable canvas and suede uppers, as well as thin rubber outsoles.
Beyond Skin creates its faux-suede footwear using a microfiber called Dinamica, which is made in Italy from 100 percent recycled PET, including post-consumer waste such as plastic bottles. Although Dinamica has found applications in the furniture and automotive industries, Beyond Skin is the first footwear label to get its foot in the door, so to speak.
